About SMT Works and Services Co. Limited

Our story

SMT Works and Services Co. Limited was founded in 2017 as SMT Services and revitalized its operations in 2019. The company was started by a team of seven professionals – electrical and civil engineers, surveyors, and economic planners – at a time when Uganda’s utility sector was privatizing and demanding specialized, cost-effective, and innovative technical solutions.

Over the years, SMT has grown into a full-service engineering contractor offering electrical engineering, water relocation works, civil works, solar installation, technical supplies, generator repairs, and power line surveying. We have supported urban authorities across Uganda’s cities and town councils, contributed to national road construction programs, and managed activities funded by the World Bank (IDA), the Government of Uganda, the African Development Bank, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa, and the Climate Investment Funds.

Our Equipment

SMT operates a working fleet that includes self-loaders, service trucks, cranes, complete RTK survey kits, and a full complement of line-construction and civil works tools – enabling us to deploy quickly and deliver projects to schedule.
